Restoring a Farmall Cub is a lot of work, but always worth the effort!

53 Farmall Cub Working
We like to plant our tomatoes in a hill. Tomatoes do not like standing water near the root. We are going to use a soaker hose in the ditch on the upper side of the row. We have to tomatoes growing in a cold frame but they are a little small to set out yet. I wish we had gotten them started earlier, but hopefully they will do well. I am planting Beefsteak and a hybrid type of Better Boy.
We put pulverized lime and cow manure in the tomato hill.

53 Farmall Cub Hilling Potatoes
I went over to my shop and brought my Farmall Cub with the hillers on it over to the Meadow. I had not started it in almost 2 years and was pleased with how it took right off.
And it did it's job with the potatoes. I also hilled the row for the tomatoes.
We have our tomatoes starting in a cold frame. The ones we get from the store all seem to be riddled with disease. Ours are still too small to set out, but the 53 Farmall Cub has the row ready.
Throwing the dirt to the potatoes will help them produce.

Farmall From Cherokee Nation
Some time ago, I had tried to buy this 53 model Farmall Cub from an 84 year old gentleman who lives in the Cherokee Nation. He finally called and said it was mine. The Cub had not run since 2001 so buying it was a gamble. I worked on it in the shade of the shop. Got it running in only a day. I set the points and bought a coil. But right away I noticed it had zero oil pressure. If I had let it run long, it would have ruined the motor. There was a vacuum in the oil pump. Finally, got it humming like an old sweet tune!

Cycle Mower For Farmall Cub
Chris Jones of Enola, AR (Faulkner County) came down last evening and took home a cycle mower for a Farmall tractor. I think he said he had 4 Cubs. I am not the only person who likes them. Below you can see a cycle mower attached to this Cub I own. Cycle mowers are really great for a pond bank.

1948 Farmall Cub From Choctaw Nation
I bought this Farmall Cub a few years back and have since sold it. It had a unique story. The owner was a nephew of J. C. Potter of the Sausage fame.
We met at a Atwood's Store at McAlester, Oklahoma. We took it off his trailer and loaded it on mine.

Farmall Cub Moving Chicken House
Nathan of Romance, AR sent this photo of his Cub doing chores around the farm. It is relocating the chicken house.
Hope the chickens speed up the egg production.
Took this video yesterday of my 1947 Farmall Cub. It is running great!

1947 Farmall Cub
This Cub was made in 1947--a little older than I am, but in lots better shape!
The serial number just has 4 digits--testifying to it's age!
Close up of the disc that I purchased with it.
Ready to work. Farmalls are little work horses!

Tractor Shed Is Full
I love the Farmall Cub tractors, but I also really like Masseys. I have a good one that I use a lot. Above, I broke the garden with her, in February.
I guess you see the orange under my shed. I like Kubota's too!

I used the Massey yesterday and prepared my back garden for watermelons and cantaloupe. I may put two rows of corn in with the melons.

Farmall Cub Cutting Soil
1949 Farmall Cub--owned by Nathan of Romance, AR
My friend Nathan sent a video of his red Farmall Cub using a belly disc breaking plow. It is tearing up the soil. Preserving the old attachments is really important. Lots of old discs and plows end up being sold for scrap.

Tommy sent me a photo of his 1952 Farmall Cub. He said it has been in his family since 1962. He has spent some time getting it into good shape again!

1957 Farmall Cub
Well, I picked this one up yesterday. I am calling it "Rudy" because it came from Rudy, AR. The owner passed away several years ago. I bought it from his 90 year old widow. She said her husband owned it over 30 years!
This Farmall has a "fast hitch". Implements can be attached quickly, just with an insert.
I know it is a '56 or 57 because of the metal insignia and grill, but someone has removed the serial number.
This Farmall has the high row crop front wheels, pretty rare! It would be a great one to restore.
